KARACHI: The delegations of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jammat-e-Islami separately held meetings with Director General, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Major General Bilal Akbar on Thursday.
According to Rangers spokesman, matters pertaining to the on-going operation against criminals in Karachi and security arrangements for Local Bodies elections in Sindh were discussed in the meetings.
The representatives of both the parties expressed resolve to support the measures for maintaining peace in Karachi with mutual cooperation.
According to reports, during the meeting with DG Rangers, the MQM delegation demanded that arrested members of the party be presented before courts. The DG Rangers told the MQM delegation that the paramilitary force presents any suspect in the court of law within 24 hours of arrest.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Sindh Sohail Anwar Siyal also called on the DG Rangers and discussed with him the matters related to law and order and security arrangements for 2nd and 3rd phase of Local Bodies Elections.-
