SHARJAH: Star all-rounder of Pakistan team Shoaib Malik has announced retirement from Test cricket on Tuesday.

According to Cricinfo.com,  Shoaib Malik has announced that the current Test match against England at Sharjah will be his last.

In a shock announcement at the close of the third day’s play, an emotional Malik said that the “time was right” to move on, only three matches after his five-year exile from the Test team had come to an end.

“We have some good youngsters and now is the time to retire,” he said. “Family comes first. I want to focus on the 2019 World Cup.”

Shoaib Malik announced the retirement after career best performance during third Test of the three-match series at UAE.

Visitors resumed their innings in the first inning of third Test at Sharjah with 222-4 on the board but England soon got shocked with back to back wickets of two set batsman James Taylor and Johnny Bairstow.

Pakistan came up with early wickets in quick successions as Rahat Ali removed Taylor and then Zulfiqar Babar clean bowled Bairstow on 42 runs.

It was then Malik’ turn to contribute, he than removed England’s tail including Anderson on 7,Rashid on  8 and then Stokes on naught, taking 4 wickets for 33 runs.

Earlier, courtesy to Anderson’s four-for and Broad tight bowling, England restricted Pakistan on just 234 in the first innings.
