Pakistan vs England series: Controversial history

Pakistan-vs-England

LAHORE: Pakistan will take on England in the first Test of three match series on Tuesday at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) but if we take a look at history we find alot of controversies from both sides.

Pakistan And England cricket series has always something which remained controversial, it can Ball tempering allegations, spot fixing scandal and scandal of racism. These controversies hurt cricket badly and proved very destructive for cricket Arena.

The most destructive scandal of all was spot fixing scandal back in 2010, which resulted in jail of three Pakistani players Mohammad Asif, Amir and Salman Butt they took money for spot fixing in the Lords’ Test match in 2010.

International Cricket Council announced 5 year ban to Amir, and 10 year ban to Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt each.

In 2006, Umpire Darrel Haier declared England winner as Pakistan refused to step in the ground after ball tempering allegations from umpire who also gave 5 runs as a penalty to the England side.

In 1992 series former English captain Ian Botham and Alan Lamb filed a case against Pakistani skipper Imran Khan, they imposed allegations on Khan of racism, calling them un-civilized and also spoiling emotions of fast bowlers all around the globe by saying that ball tempering is not a strange thing in cricket. Later Imran Khan won that case in the court.

History of controversies between both sides is very long but we can hope that upcoming series will be controversy free for both sides as cricket is a game of ‘Gentlemen’ and it should be free of all kind of controversies which can damage its beauty.
