ISLAMABAD: British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan has aimed to establish boxing academy by the end of this year.
Talking to media after a meeting with Director General Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) Akhtar Nawaz Ganjera at his office, he said he came here to talk about Amir Khan Boxing Academy which aims to improve boxing in Pakistan.
He informed that a lot of paper work was required to be completed before he moved to set up an academy in the Capital.
He expressed keenness to pace up the process for establishment of the academy. He said ample work had been completed and hoped that the paper work would be finalized till his next meeting with Mr. Ganjera.
The Current World Boxing Council Silver Welterweight champion said he had been frequently visiting Pakistan in the past but never stayed here more than two or three days and it was for the first time that he had spent several days here. “I will be staying here for nine more days. All this is just for the sake of academy.”
He also sought government’s help in establishing his academy in Islamabad and believed that Pakistan could produce not one or two but several champions but they needed support.
