BCCI, Ten Sports conflict resolved

NEW DELHI: The conflict between TV channel Ten Sports and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been resolved which is ultimately a good omen for Pakistan.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has a TV rights contract with Ten Sports which was a big hurdle in Pakistan-India bilateral series causing conflict of interest with Indian Board, because Ten Sports is a part of Essel group which previously launched Indian Cricket League in competition with Indian Premier League and recently announced to hold a Rebel League.

According to reports, Indian Board had pushed Pakistan to cancel their contract with Ten Sports in order to make feasibility for bilateral series.

However PCB head Sheharyar Khan has denied all the rumors reagarding BCCI pressure stating that during a meeting with Essel Group’s chief Subhash Chandara in London he discussed the issue for which he replied that they and BCCI have come to a consensus and contract may be signed in near future.

He went on to say that if the conflict between both the bodies resolves, this would directly benefit Pakistan Cricket and a big hurdle between Pak-India series would be cleared.

PCB Chairman further told media he had demanded a written objection letter from BCCI on Ten Sports issue.

It is pertinent to mention here that ICC’s ‘Big Three’ have emended an article in ICC rules that if any of the two parties (cricketing bodies) have issues with the Broadcasters, they call off the series or bilateral tour.
