Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st T20: Pakistan set a sizeable target

COLOMBO: Pakistan have set a sizeable 175 runs target in first of the two Twenty20 (T20) match series against Sri Lanka at  R.Premadasa Stadium Colombo.

While batting first after winning the toss on a batting-friendly wicket, Pakistani opener failed to put up a good start as young Mukhtar got a thick outside edge to short third man trying to whip it to leg  side.

At a stage Pakistan were 14-1 after 3 overs.

Incoming batsman M Hafeez and Shehzad paced up the inning and running along nicely, they both put 42 runs partnership on 33 balls after Hafeez tried to pull a slower leg-cutter by Perera but hit it straight to the man at deep midwicket. He scored 17 of 14 balls.

Pakistan were 83/3 when well-set Shehzad dragged a well-outside off stump pitched ball and ramped it straight to short fine leg to Malinga. He added valuable 46 in just 38 balls.

Seasoned campaigner Malik and recalled U Akmel kept scoring runs at a pace and put Pakistan in a comfortable stage, the pair added 81 runs of 45 balls when Akmal could not play an in-dipping yorker from Malinga on the very next ball he hit him six.

He hit three 4s and three 6s for his  46 of 24 balls.
