MIRPUR: Brilliance of Shakib and enthusiasm of Mustafizur lead hosts towards second consecutive ODIs win to seal the first ever series against Asia-best India.
Bangladesh recorded their first series-win against India after Mustafizur Rehman’s second successive five-wicket haul restricted India on 200 in their first innings.
The hosts had won the opening game by 79 runs with heroics of Mustafizur and brilliance of Tamim and Sarkar.
Bangladesh, chasing a modest 200-run total in 47 overs against India, lost opener Tamim Iqbal in the 7th over but were cruising with the Sarkar-Das stand. The two were running away with the game before Ashwin removed the former with a ball that kept really low and Axar Patel scalped Das in the second ODI in Mirpur on Sunday.
That was when Shakib took the reins of historic chase to take his side home comfortably. The star all-rounder scored unbeaten 51 runs out 62 balls to help his team a 6-wicket wins and to seal the series 2-0.
Earlier, Indian skipper won the toss and elected to bat first. Like last ODI, Indian batting line-up collapsed again and only one batsman crossed 50 runs mark.
Batting first, Indian team put 200 runs on board and lost all their wicket. Dhawan scored 53 runs and remain top scorer from his side. Sipper Dhone played the useful inning of 47 runs and Raina contributed 34 for his team.
It is Bangladesh’s first ever series win against India, earlier they have also humiliated Pakistan on their home ground.
