KARACHI: Sindh Apex committee agreed to install biometric system for the upcoming by-elections in NA 246 which are scheduled to be held on April 23.
According to details, the decision was made in a meeting attended by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Ishratul Ebad, Corps Commander Karachi Naveed Mukhtar, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Bilal Akbar and other officials on Friday.
It was agreed that National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) be asked to install biometric system in the constituency to ensure free and fair elections.
Officials of Election Commission will hold a meeting on Saturday to finalize arrangements in this regard.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have called for installation of biometric system for the by-election.
On the other hand, MQM has opposed any such plan.
