NEW DELHI: South African star fast bowler Dale Steyn said that he have four to five year left for cricket not yet decided when to retire.
“I am not quitting, I still have at least five more years of cricket left in me,” Steyn said during an exclusive interview with TOI.
Talking about the World Cup he said the tournament is over. That’s not what he is thinking about at the moment.
“Well, 15 years ago, you could say that a pacer has reached the twilight of his career at 32. But, now, when you have so much emphasis on fitness, I think you should let go of that old mindset,” Steyn said.
“I think I am still one of the fittest players in the South African side, fitter than guys who are 21-22. I will play until I can’t play anymore. I don’t think age matters. In cricket, if you have the skill, you can go on playing.”
He said, “I am getting to the back end of my career. I think I have five years of cricket left. I have started not to take things too seriously, loving life is my motto.”
