MELBOURNE: Skipper Michael Clarke guided Australia to win World Cup for fifth time at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Aussies skipper Clarke who was playing his last game of his great One-Day career played a sensational knock of 73 to guide the team towards a comfortable win against undefeated New Zealand.
Young Steven Smith also played a great unbeaten knock of 56 while David Warner scored 45 at the top order which helped the team to lift he trophy for fifth time.
Matt Henry picked up two wickets for the losing side.
Grant Elliott played a brilliant knock of 83 runs while Ross Taylor scored 40 runs for New Zealand who won the toss and elected to bat.
Kiwis lost their aggressive skipper Brandon McCullum with just 1 runs on the score board courtesy of Mitchell Starc who finishes off with a figures of two wicket for 40 runs.
Aussies bowler all over New Zealand batting as they managed to stop Martin Guptill (15), Kane Williamson (12) and Corey Anderson (0).
Kiwis were all out in 45 over after scoring 183 runs. James Faulkner and Mitchell Johnson picked up three wickets each.
