New Zealand beat South Africa to qualify for the final of World Cup

AUCKLAND: Grant Elliott helped New Zealand to beat South Africa in the semifinal by four wickets at Eden Park.

New Zealand’s run chase was led by skipper himself Brandon McCullum as he smashed half century of just 22 deliveries.  McCullum departed after scoring 56.

Latter Grant Elliott took the charge along with Core Anderson to took the home side towards a great run chase.

Elliott made unbeaten 84 while Anderson scored 58 runs. This is the highest run chase ever at the knockouts stage.

Morne Morkel took three wickets in the match.

Earlier, South Africa lost two wickets early as both openers Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock were back in the pavilion with just 31 runs on the score board.

Faf du Plassis batted with great responsibility along with Rilee Rossouw to guide the team total to 114. Rossouw lost his wicket after scoring 39 while du Plessis went on to score 82.

Skipper AB de Villiers once again sensational with the bat as he made unbeaten 65 of 44 delivers while David Miller done the serious damage with the bat as he made 49 of just 23 bowls.

South Africa managed to score 281 runs in  43 over due to rain as New Zealand were required 298 in 43 over according to Duck Worth Lewis method (D/L) .

Corey Anderson picked up 3 wickets while Trent Boult picked up two in the match.
