FIA arrests Pakistani journalist in cyber blackmailing of F.M 100 CEO

KARACHI: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Cell Karachi arrested a journalist allegedly blackmailing C.E.O of F.M 100 Radio Channel Aman Ahmed.

According to reports, Computers, mobiles and other equipment used by the accused were confiscated during the early morning raid at his residence.

Accused Rehan Ahmed Shaikh a former employee of F.M 100 Radio Channel was allegedly blackmailing the C.E.O Aman Ahmed through a fake Facebook identity and email addresses registered under the name of Nida Khan.

He was not only blackmailing Aman Ahmed impersonating as a female Geo reporter but several other members of the society demanding money. Aman Ahmed filed a written complaint against the blackmailer at F.I.A Cyber Crimes Cell Karachi.

An investigative team was formulated under the supervision of Deputy Director Cyber Crime Circle Ahmed Zaeem comprising Inspector Inderyas Bahadur, Technical Expert Tariq Arbaab and A.S.I Ghulaam Ahmed Bhutto.

The said team raided Rehan Ahmed Shaikh’s house at University Road after completing their investigation and confiscated computers, mobiles and other equipment. F.I.R No 12/2015 was logded against him under the sections 420, 34PPC and 36/37 ETO 2002.

The accused Rehan Ahmed is currently working for a local media organization and he would be presented before the court today on 24th March 2015.
