ISLAMABAD: As Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, will be retiring today Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Shairf has promoted Sohil Aman as new air chief .
It was expected that Vice Chief of Air Staff (VCAS) Air Marshal Sohail Gul Khan would be elevated to the rank of Air Chief Marshal but PM appointed Sohail Aman instead of him.
Air Marshal Sohail Aman was commissioned in the Pakistan Air Force in November 1980 in GD (P) Branch.
During his career, he has commanded a fighter squadron, a fighter wing and an operational airbase.
He is a graduate of the Combat Commanders’ School, Air War College and Kings College (London).
He has also served as air officer commanding of a regional air command and deputy chief of air staff (training) at the air headquarters in Islamabad. He is a recipient of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military).
