Block SIMs will not be issued again before 6 months: PTA Chairman

ISLAMABAD: Bio-metric verification of Subscriber Identity Module (SIMs) enters in its final phase at chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Ismayeel Shah says that all the unverified SIMs will be blocked after April 12.

PTA chairman says that total 75 million SIMs have been verified after January 2015 and around 10 million SIMs have been blocked till yet.

“All the unverified SIMs will be blocked after April 13,” PTA Chairman says. He also said that the blocked SIMs will not be issued again before 6 months.

“Overseas Pakistanis can register their SIMs to their relatives name,” chairman gave an option to overseas.

He also said that the mobile retailers cannot sell the SIMs, only franchises of concerned cellular companies may issue the SIM.
