ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday consented to a proposal by leaders of opposition parties to withdraw the controversial presidential order regarding Senate election on FATA seats and now the order will be withdrawn.
President Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali Khan while talking to reporter after the luncheon meeting said that they had raised the issue of Senate election on FATA seats and the controversial presidential order and proposed its immediate withdrawal.
The Prime Minister agreed to our proposal and order for immediate withdrawal of the ordinance, he added.
It is to be mentioned here that the night before Senate election, the government promulgated a Presidential Order altering the procedure for Senate election in FATA seats. The changed procedure allowed each FATA MNA to cast one vote against the earlier four votes by each FATA MNA.
The opposition parties and FATA MNA protested against the late night Presidential order to change the procedure and the Election Commission postponed Senate election on FATA seats.
