PTI to campaign for direct Senate elections: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan on Friday announced to constitute a party committee for firming up recommendations for legislation regarding direct Senate elections to end corrupt practices and horse-trading.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that PTI would campaign for direct Senate elections so that the menace of horse-trading could be ended.

He added that the PTI experts’ committee would present recommendations for legislation to end the corrupt practice and ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

He said that PTI lawmakers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa foiled horse-trading in Senate elections, saying that the PTI proved to be an ideological party.

He said that for the first time a family of KP, which had been making it to Senate on the basis of its wealth, was thwarted in KP by PTI members.

Imran said that PTI MPAs, who had never seen a million rupees in their lifetime, rejected  millions of rupees offer.
