ISLAMABAD: The members of National Assembly from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) on Thursday challenged the promulgation of Presidential Ordinance changing procedure for Senate election on FATA seats in both the Supreme Court and the Islamabad High Court.
The petitioners submitted that the election method introduced through the late night promulgated Ordinance should be reversed and the Fata Senate elections should be conducted according to the revoked method.
The presidential ordinance issued on Wednesday night allowed each Fata MNA to cast only one vote against the earlier rule of four votes by an MNA.
However, despite the promulgation of the presidential ordinance, the ECP did not change the voting procedure, causing confusion.
