Govt announces policy regarding prices of medicines in country

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has announced the policy regarding prices of medicines in the country.

While addressing press conference in the ministry of national health services regulations and coordination here on Wednesday, state minister Saira Afzal Tarar said that hoarding and artificial shortage of the medicines will be discouraged under the new policy.
She said that medicines will be available in the country on reasonable rates, saying that the approved prices of the medicines will remain frozen till 2016 and after that the prices of the scheduled medicines will increase on annual basis.
 

She said that two categories of the medicines have been made which are to be used by the human and first 50 medicines in the necessary list of the medicines are used for cancer, TB, Hepititis,Hiv, Thalassemia and plantation of body parts.
Saira Afzal Tarar said that in the past prices of medicines were always increased while the incumbent government for the first time paid heed towards reducing the prices of medicines in the country.
