SYDNEY: Manager of Pakistan Cricket Team Naveed Akram Cheema has sent clarification to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the controversy over dropping Hafeez from the World Cup squad.
Naveed Akram Cheema in his clarification said that according to doctors report Hafeez would have recovered within three weeks and during the period Pakistan was to play important matches. Therefore, team management and skipper Misbah-ul-Haq and chief selector Moin Khan decided with consensus to call replacement of Hafeez and he was sent back .
He further said that doctor had advised him three weeks rest.
Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan took notice of Hafeez’s claims and sought clarification from team management regarding the all-rounder’s dropping from the mega event.
The all rounder while talking to media revealed that plan was already afoot to drop him from World Cup squad .
It is pertinent to mention here that he had suffered a calf injury during the 2nd One Day match played against New Zealand.
