TAIPEI: As many as 10 people were hurt when a TransAsia Airways plane crashed land into a river in New Taipai city, local media reported on Wednesday.
According to Taiwan’s Central News Agency, the ATR-72 aircraft was flying from Taipei to Kinmen. As many as 58 people were onboard in the plane.
According to CNA, a government spokesman as saying the plane crashed after hitting an elevated bridge.
Fire Department of the city has dispatched five rescue teams, equipped with speed boats, to the accident site near the Nanyang Bridge in Xizhi district.
An Aviation Safety Council spokesman Wang Hsing-chung said investigators were heading for the site to find out the reason for the crash.
TransAsia, had suffered a serious crash last July, when flight GE222 crashed near the airport at Magong on the Penghu island chain during a rainstorm, killing 48 people.
