Local team signs Amir for grade-II cricket

KARACHI: Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has signed agreement with grade-II team in Karachi to return to domestic cricket after International Cricket Council (ICC) allowed him to play local cricket.

The bowler signed agreement with Omar Associates to participate in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II national tournament, the tournament commences on March 9.

Talking to foreign news agency Associates’ chief Nadeem Omar said he has signed Mohammad Amir for his team adding that everyone should be allowed for second chance.

Amir was allowed by the anti corruption and security unit of the ICC previous week to resume domestic cricket after five year ban.

The ICC had banned Aamer along with Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif for five years over a spot-fixing case in England in 2010.

All the three were convicted of taking money in return for bowling intentionally no-balls during the Lord’s Test against England in August that year.

For Amir,  the PCB has said he  would be monitored on and off the field for the next few months before being cleared to play international cricket once his ban expires in September this year.
