KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers on Tuesday staged a walkout after raising anti-government slogans in Sindh Assembly during address of Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

MQM legislators demanded ousting of CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah as at least 650 workers of provincial ruling political party, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), were killed during Shah’s tenure.

While talking to reporters outside Sindh Assembly, MQM leader Faisal Sabzwari alleged that CM Sindh has proved that Sindh is an unfortunate province. He said that MQM protested outside CM House Karachi with dead body of activists.

MQM representative Khwaja Izharul Hassan urged the Speaker Sindh Assembly for high-level probe into into extrajudicial killings of MQM workers and the role of the provincial government.

Hassan said that MQM workers waited with dead bodies for 10 hours outside the CM house but the provincial government didn’t notice the killings of MQM workers.

Protests turned intense inside the Assembly when Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah leveled serious allegations on Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in his address to Sindh Assembly session, said that MQM workers had attacked CM House in Karachi during protests.

CM Sindh alleged, ‘With regrets, MQM workers carried out attack on CM House Karachi and refused to resolve matters by negotiations despite the fact that Sindh government had sent their representatives.’

He added that Sindh government had sent representatives to MQM protestors over recommendations of Governor Sindh Ishratul Ebad Khan but the demonstrators rejected to listen anything.

He said that the protestors have not even filed First Investigation Report (FIR) against killing of their worker as far to pursue the case legally, and carried out regretful attack on CM House.
