Earth mates should be prepared to witness an asteroid ‘2004 BL86’ which would pass three times the distance of Earth to the moon, however, it poses no threat for our planet ‘for the foreseeable future’.
Closest approach of the asteroid occurs hours earlier around 11 am EST on the January 26 but its brightest time will be started from 8:00pm EST till 1:00am EST of January 27.
The asteroid will pass near the Earth which could be more easily observed in the America, Europe and Africa on Monday evening but through binoculars while it was the closest call to Earth until another asteroid ‘1999 AN10’ reaching in 2027.
For Americans, Europeans, and African its brightest time will be started from 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday evening, January 26th till about 1 a.m. EST on the January 27 while the asteroid will be heading northward and will turn bright rapidly after approaching Earth which could be seen with a 3- or 4-inch-diameter telescope.
Manager Don Yeomans of NASA’s Near Earth Object Program Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California said that ‘Monday, January 26 will be the closest asteroid 2004 BL86 will get to Earth for at least the next 200 years,’
Asteroid ‘2004 BL86’ was initially discovered on January 30, 2004 by a telescope of the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) survey in White Sands, New Mexico.
