ATC acquits Waseem Beater in extortion case

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi Saturday set free Waseem Beater for lack of evidence an accused involved in collecting extortion money on behalf of some police officials.

The culprit was detained on his arrival from Dubai in a suspicion of carrying out various criminal activities including extortion whereas the ATC has now acquitted him after debating on his case.

The FIA had handed over Beater in police custody after arresting him from Karachi airport.

Traders had registered a case against the accused Waseem, popularly known as Waseem Beater, at the Napier police station several months ago.

Waseem’s name first surfaced during the hearing of famous Karachi law and order case by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
