Renowned micro-blogging company, Twitter, has officially launched its new feature ‘While You Were Away’ to facilitate its users to recap tweets while not using the app.
The iOS app will now display ‘Top Tweets’ since the last time the Twitter opened by the user instead of showing just ‘Most Recent Tweets’.
‘While You Were Away’ was earlier announced in November 2014 and initially launched in January 2015.
The newly launched feature is based on an algorithm in accordance to the engagements and habits of the user while it quite similar to Facebook’s algorithm-based news feed which cites user preferences.
However, such comparison was denied by the Twitter’s Vice President Kevin Weil urging the new feature having more ‘real-time experiences’.
The company also aimed for expansion of the new feature for Android and its website soon.
Moreover, Twitter also initiated its web version of the password-killing tool, Digits, for developers on Wednesday to make Twitter sign up easier for new apps by replacing passwords with mobile phone numbers.
