ISLAMABAD: National Institute of Health’s lab Vero Logy has confirmed first polio case of 2015 in country.
According to details, Vero Logy lab has confirmed as first polio case of 2015, while some reports of 2014 are still awaiting and due to this it is feared that the polio cases number could increase further.
An official of National Health and Regulations Ministry has said that polio case confirmed in one child, when they took samples in Tank area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 3rd January, adding that some testes of other suspects are underway and it would be confirmed about other polio cases in one to two weeks. Meanwhile results would come in one month after submission of some samples of important cases.
On the other hand, four delegation member of Bill and Mlinda Gates Foundation mat with Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) Jehangir Tareen at his residence in Islamabad under the chairmanship of senior advisor Dr. Waqar Ajmal Khan for Pakistan and Afghanistan.
According to sources, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa Minister for Health Shahram Khan Trakai and Provincial Education Minister Atif Khan were present on the occasion.
The delegation appealed to the PTI government to take effective steps for dealing with polio virus because 89 percent polio cases reported in KPK and FATA, which are the 82 percent cases reported in whole world.
Sources told that Sardar Jehangir Khan Tareen ensured the delegation that PTI will fight against polio.
It is pertinent to mention here that the delegation during its seven days stay in Pakistan would meet Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
