Muslim rulers should react strongly to ‘cartoons’: Munawar Hassan

KARACHI: Former Amir Jamaat Islami Pakistan Syed Munawwar Hassan on Sunday said that the heads of Muslim states should react strongly to blasphemous cartoons. He said that the Muslim Ummah will continue to protest throughout the world as long as those who made blasphemous cartoons remain at large.

Addressing the JI rally in Karachi to protest against publishing of blasphemous cartoons in some of European newspapers, Munawwar Hassan said that the magazines in some of the countries are continually publishing blasphemous cartoons just to hurt the feelings of Muslims. He said that the Muslim heads of state should react strongly to these cartoons and present Muslims’ case before the world.

JI rally started from Institute of Noor-e-Haq and ended at Quaid’s tomb in Karachi.

Addressing the rally, JI Karachi head Naeemur Rehman demanded from government of Pakistan to protest on global level against the publishing of blasphemous cartoons. He said that JI will protest throughout the country on 23rd of January against the cartoons and will hold million march in Karachi on 25th.

Chairman Churches Society of Pakistan Manuel Victor also attended the rally.

Meanwhile protests held across the country on Sunday against the blasphemous caricatures published by French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

Activists of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) demonstrated outside Karachi Press Club and announced to march towards French Counsulate.

Meanwhile, Jamaatud Dawa Pakistan also took out a mammoth rally in Lahore against the blasphemous caricatures.

Christian community in Peshawar also took to the streets to protest against the comics printed in the French magazine.
