40 million unregistered mobile phone SIMs blocked: Senate committee told

ISLAMABAD: Government has blocked around 40 million unregistered mobile phone’s SIMs in the country in a bid to control terrorism and crime from use of mobile phones.

This information has been given during a meeting of the Senate’s standing committee on information technology and telecommunication.

The meeting was held in Islamabad with Senator Idrees Khan Safi in the chair.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunications Anusha Rehman urged legislation against cybercrimes and said all efforts would be made to block unverified mobile SIMs.
