ANP, PML-N activists tried to stop Imran Khan at APS: KP Information Minister

PESHAWAR: Information Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani on Wednesday claimed that the Shuhada Forum, whose members tried to restrain PTI chief Imran Khan from entering Army Public School Peshawar, was comprised ANP and PML-N workers.

Ghani, while addressing a hurriedly-called press conference, accused ANP and other opposition parties of trying to introduce  vandalism in politics. He said that the basic aim of the protesters was political point scoring instead of demonstration of sympathies with the victims’ families.

“Who these dozen men are to stop Imran from visiting the school and who has given the right to them to do so?” the minister questioned.

He said that those who attempted to create a scene and stop Imran vehicle were member of Shuhada Forum, an organisation, he claimed, was created to oppose and give tough time to the provincial government.

He said that the Forum had been created by ANP and PML-N members. He complained that opposition was resorting to negative politics, adding that the provincial government had been facilitating the opposition parties and their leadership and they should also respect PTI leadership.

It is to be mentioned here that family and loved ones of those who had lost their lives in the Peshawar school attack gathered outside APS Peshawar, as Imran, Reham and KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak along with others arrived at the school amidst tight security.

Holding posters and banners, the protesters tried to stop Khan’s vehicle from entering and complained that the provincial government did not show any concern regarding the school attack. The demonstrators also lamented that it took Khan a month to come to Peshawar and speak to the students after the deadly school massacre. They raised Go Imran Go slogans against the PTI chief.
