Islamabad, KP schools to reopen from Monday

ISLAMABAD/PESHAWAR: Schools in the federal capital Islamabad and Kyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will open from Monday (tomorrow) after extended winter vacations.

Claims have been made in Islamabad over making security of schools more improved.

Inspector General (IG) Islamabad Tahir Alam has said that security alert has been installed in the schools of the capital through which contact could be made with seconds.


Security audit of 354 government schools and 299 private the schools have been completed.

But local newspaper reported security arrangements could not taken in most of the schools, while broken walls of schools have been used as crossovers.

The KP government has claimed that security arrangements have been completed for all the schools of the province.

In this regard the provincial government said that security measures have been taken to improve security of the schools.

Moreover, schools in Punjab and Sindh also will be opened from January 12.

Following Peshawar attack on December 16 on an Army-run school that killed over 150 people including 134 students, reopening of schools and other educational  institutions were delayed after winter vacation.

Owing to security concerns, the winter vacations were extended till January 12 so that adequate security arrangements could be taken at schools and educations institutions before reopening.
