Hamburger Morgenpost that ran Charlie Hebdo cartoons attacked in Germany

BERLIN: A German newspaper, Hamburger Morgenpost, that republished Charlie Hebdo satirical cartoon faced arson attack early Sunday in the northern city of Hamburg, the metropolis of Germany, foreign news agency reported.

The regional daily, the Hamburger Morgenpost, was attacked by culprits at about 0120 GMT while no casualties were reported as far.

Culprits hurled rocks on the building and later burning object through the window which damaged two rooms on lower floors but fortunately the fire was put out immediately.

Hamburger Morgenpost had reissued Charlie Hebdo cartoons with headline, ‘This much freedom must be possible!’ on its front page after the French publication attack.

According to police, two suspects had been detained and the state security had opened an investigation in the incident to seek connection between the attacks on Charlie Hebdo office in Paris. Police department rejected provide further information regarding the suspected attackers.
