LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday took back decision for shutter-down strike call against workers’ killing by the political party’s coordination committee.

Altaf Hussain took back decision for country-wide strike call given by coordination committee on Sunday (today) over brutal killing of workers under custody of police.

MQM chief announced the traders and transporters to resume their activities from 5:00pm local time. He directed the Rabita (coordination) committee to take back strike call.

Rabita Committee following Altaf Hussain’s directions announced to observe one-day mourning, however, the committee announced to resume trade and transportation activities.

Earlier, the political party, while observing mourning day across Sindh on Sunday (today) made an extension for one-day mourning besides calling shutter-down strike across the country.

MQM coordination committee announced to extend one-day mourning, appealed shutter-down strike across Sindh on January 12 (tomorrow) to protest against worker under police custody.

Senior leader Haider Abbas Rizvi announced to extend mourning across Sindh during 8-hour long protest before Chief Minister House in Karachi.

He said that MQM lodged 8-hour long peaceful protest against worker’s killing and announced one more day to observe mourning. He said that the political party’s protest was not unethical. However, Rizvi announced to shift four dead bodies of MQM workers to Jinnah ground.

The strike call was followed by MQM supremo Altaf Hussain’s 15-minute deadline to Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah to assure strict action against responsible persons which later ended up without any response by Sindh government.
