New Anarkali Market: Deadly fire claims 13 lives in Lahore

LAHORE: A deadly fire in Anarkali plaza in Lahore killed as many as 13 people on Monday evening, all the deaths occurred due to burns injury and suffocation, DCO Lahore said.

Medical Superintendent of Meo Hospital Dr Amjad confirmed that nine people were killed in the blaze incident in Lahore and only one person sustained injuries.

He said that four people have been identified so far.

President of Anarkali Market Naeem Khan has announced mourning over demise of precious life in fire and all markets adjacent to Mall road will be closed on Tuesday.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Jamaat Islami Ameer Siraj Ul Haq, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supermo Altaf Hussain, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahir Ul Qadri, have expressed grief over loss of precious life in the fire.

Earlier, fire engulfed the four storeys building in Lahore in Monday evening and the fire was erupted due to short circuit.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sunday night blaze in Karachi’s Timber Market in old Haji Camp destructed the market.
