ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain, has rejected mercy appeals of 50 more prisoners who were pronounced death in terrorism cases, British media reported on Tuesday.
The prisoners who faced rejection of their mercy appeals by President Mamnoon could be executed anytime in Pakistan, BBC reported.
It should be mentioned that six convicts in terrorism cases were hanged till death in Pakistan after ending of death penalty moratorium.
Government officials said that the time duration of executions of death row prisoners was decreased up to three days from 14 days after release of black warrants. The move was finalised to accelerate implementation of death penalties against criminals.
Pakistan government have to issue new black warrant against a death row prisoner if he was not executed within assigned period.
Earlier, the federal interior minister Chaudhry Nisar revealed expectations of hanging at least 500 death row prisoners in coming days.
