COAS signs death warrants: 5 terrorists to be hung in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD: After Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif lifted moratorium on executions, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday signed death warrants of five terrorists involved different crimes.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the terrorists, whose executions were pending, were convicted by Field General Court Martial. The statement, however, did not identify the convicts.

The terrorists are likely to be hanged at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Prison in next 24 hours. Executioners also arrived in the prison earlier in the day while a team of Pakistan army also visited the prison.

Earlier COAS General Raheel Sharif signed the death warrants of Aqeel Ahmed known as Dr Usman after meeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at GHQ.
