PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Tuesday said that attack on Peshawar school was an attack on the “heart of the nation”, saying that it proved the terrorists are not only the enemy of Pakistan rather the whole humanity.
The COAS, who dashed to Peshawar by cutting short his visit to Quetta to supervise the operation against the terrorists holed up in the school, said that the Army was carrying out intelligence-based actions against the terrorists and would intensify these.
He said that the Army was currently carrying out two major operations: Zarb-e-A
zb and Khyber-I, to flush out the terrorists from the country.
The Army Chief said that the Army would intensify the actions against the terrorists with renewed pledges and resolve. This barbarism could not lower the determination and pledge of the army to completely eradicate terrorism from the country, he said.
He further said that the school attack had exposed the reality of the terrorists.
It is to be mentioned here that some six to eight armed Taliban terrorists stormed Army Public School Warsak Road and resorted to indiscriminate firing on the innocents school children and other staff, killing some 132 people including 100 children and teachers.
Immediately after the attack, the army commandos launched search and clearance operation and killed six of the terrorist. The clearance operation is sill going on as the attackers have been confined to one block of the school and other three blocks have been cleared.
