DUBAI: Pakistan cricket team will have to win the One-Day series against Kiwis going to start today in Dubai to retain its current ODI ranking.
Pakistan stands at sixth spot in ICC One-Day ranking and if the Kiwis won the series by 3/2, it will climbed to dethrone Pakistan’s at six spot.
Kiwis are two point behind Pakistan at 7th spot  and they need to win the series at least by 3/2 to grab the sixth position while Pakistan need to win the series at least by the same margin to retain its sixth position.
If Pakistan win the series by whitewashing New Zealand, even then it progress on ICC ODI ranking to fifth sport will be dependent on the results of ongoing series between Sri Lanka and England.
It is to be mentioned here that after draws in both Test and T-20 series, Pakistan and New Zealand are going to play a five-ODI series with the first game commencing at Dubai today.
Pakistan suffered a blow a day ahead of the first match with the suspension of all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez from bowling in international cricket after the International Cricket Council confirmed his bowling action to be illegal on Sunday.
The 34-year-old Hafeez, more known for his batting exploits but pretty effective with the ball, was reported during the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi last week.
