Pakistan lose to Belgium in Champions Trophy opener

KARACHI: Pakistan lost to Belgium 1-2 in their first match of the Champions Trophy in Bhubaneshwar in India on Saturday. 

No goal was scored in the first quarter, but Belgium took lead in the second quarter as Tanguy Cosyns pushed the ball into the right corner of the net dodging goalkeeper Imran Butt.

Pakistan staged a comeback in the third quarter when captain Muhammad Imran scored on a penalty stroke.

Thomas Briels scored the second goal for Belgium which proved decisive.

Pakistan players trained for more than one month at Hockey Club of Pakistan in Karachi.
