PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Thursday formally announced to hold Local Bodies (LB) election in the province in April next year.
Chief Minister KP Pervez Khattak announced that the LB polls would be held in April next year to fulfill the promise made with the people to empower them through devolution of power .
Khattak while talking to reporters said that the provincial government had allocated 20 percent development funds for Local bodies.
He claimed that the KP local government law was far better than the that of other provinces.

The announcement came after a long delay as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led KP government had promised before election to hold local bodies polls within 45 days after coming into power .
Earlier,  the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was insisting on holding  Local Bodies polls through bio-metric system. However, later it agreed to hold LB polls in the province without bio-metric system.
 The KP Minister for Local Bodies Inayatullah Khan had said that the provincial government is ready to hold LB polls in April next year and in this connection the government has written a letter to ECP.
The government has completed all the preparations for holding of LB polls.
The KP government had already carried out delimitation of constituencies for LB polls.
