Three years pass since NATO forces attack Salala check post

ISLAMABAD: Three years have been completed of the NATO attack on Pakistani Check-post Salala. The NATO forces Helicopters attacked the Salala check-post set up at the Pak-Afghan border in 2011.

Twenty four soldiers of Pak army including Major Mujahid and Captain Usman were martyred in result of the said NATO forces attack.

The two check posts of Pak army were set up at the height of more than 8000 feet at the mountain in Salala.

During the mid night of 25th and 26th of November 2011, the NATO jet helicopters took off from ASAF air base in Kanur and attacked the Pakistani check posts.

Twenty four soldiers were martyred while 13 others were injured in the result of the attack which continued for two hours.

The jet helicopters not only destroyed the check posts but also harmed Pak-US relations.

Pakistan severally reacted to the incident and demanded an apology from the US.

The condemnation resolution was approved in the National Assembly of Pakistan. The united forces supply was halted while the Shamsi airbase was got vacated.

The US refused to apologize over the attack by terming it the defense actions but US foreign Minister Hillary Clinton telephoned her Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar on 3rd July 2012 and apologized for the attack.

Pakistan accepted the apology. After that tension between Pak-US relations ended. The seven months suspended NATO supply was restored while America assured to give one part of coalition support funds on urgent basis.
