Suspected Faisalabadian not infected with Ebola: WHO, NHS

FAISALABAD: The World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Pakistan Health Ministry on Tuesday released joint statement clarifying that the suspected patient dies of another severe diseases but not by Ebola virus.

‘A patient, Zulfiqar Ahmed 40, actually died by Dengue and Hepatitis C diseases.’ WHO and the National Health Services (NHS) clarified in a joint press statement.

However, the patient belonging to Chiniot city of Punjab province died on Tuesday’s night due to severe diseases who returned 10 days earlier from an African country Togo.

According to WHO, Ebola virus did not hit Togo as far and Zulfiqar (late) has not visited any other affected area before returning to Pakistan.

However, teams of the health ministry reached at the patient’s home in Chiniot to investigate health conditions of his family members.
