2nd Test: Younis, Azhar lead Pakistan’s bid to chase

DUBAI: Younis Khan 53 and Azhar Ali 35 on Wednesday built a strong third-wicket partnership to lead Pakistan to 118/2 at lunch after a shaky start by Pakistan openersĀ atĀ Dubai International Cricket Stadium .

Openers Taufeeq Umar 16 and Shan Maqsood 13 were probed away by the New Zealand’s spinners in first phase of the inning.

Younis, who made a double-hundred and three centuries in his previous three Tests, sets another Test fifty today while Azhar was at the other end of the crease with 35 runs.

Same as in past, Younis Khan became quite problematic for the Kiwi bowlers via repeatedly punching sixes and fours over midwicket.

Azhar was once beaten with flight but he threw a short length ball out of the boundary for four on the very next delivery.
