Pakistan-born Sameena gets best actress award in UK

LONDON: A British Actress of Pakistani origin,  Sameena Jabeen Ahmed, has been awarded UK’s best actress in the 58th London Film Festival.

According to reports, Sameena got the award over her performance in the film, Catch Me Daddy.

Russian drama Leviathan won Best Film Award at the LFF festival. The Tribe took First Feature award, while Silvered Water was named best documentary.

The Best British Newcomer Award is presented to the most promising writer, actor, producer or director with no previous track record in feature films or television.  Jury president Finola Dwyer, the Oscar® and BAFTA-nominated film producer, announced the result.
