PAT protesters vacate Parliament lawn in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD:  Consequent upon the reconciliatory efforts of the political Jirga of the representatives of the opposition, the workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) on Thursday vacated the lawn of the Parliament House.


The participants of sit-ins of PAT who have been protesting against the government in Islamabad on directives of party’s leader vacated the tent settlements in the lawn of the Parliament House and moved their tents at D-Chowk adjacent to the parliament.

The protesters shifted to their previous places due to the efforts of the Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq and leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) while the security personnel deployed there heaved a sigh of relief on shifting of the participants of the sit-in from the parliament lawn.

PAT leader Dr Tahir ul Qadri on Wednesday directed his followers to leave the lawn of the Parliament House.

The eye-witnesses said that the net-structure of the parliament was broken for shifting the children and women there so as to save them from the heaving shelling , use of teargas and rubber bullets on the midnight of the Saturday and Sunday which were being fired in abundance from all sides and site the presenting a picture of field of war.
