PTI, Govt negotiations ended up with ‘deadlock’

ISLAMABAD: Another round of negotiations ended up with ‘deadlock’ between dialogue committees of Pakistan government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday (today).


Negotiation teams of both parties have ended the dialogue session without extraction of any solution to end political crisis of Pakistan.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation becomes major reason of deadlock between Pakistani government and PTI, sources said.

Government negotiators adopted the stance that PM’s resignation has been considered as ‘minus one formula’ while the decision would affect the economic development of Pakistan.

On the other hand, PTI dialogue committee stayed firm over the PM resignation with the stance that investigation of vote rigging cannot be transparent if PM resides on his post, as well as PM could influence the probe.

Fifth phase of dialogues scheduled:

PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, ‘Fifth phase of dialogues will start on August 27 (tomorrow) at 2:00pm.’

Negotiation attempts:

Negotiation teams of Pakistan government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had commenced another session of dialogues to settle down political crisis via talks.

The governmental negotiators comprising of lawmakers include Ishaq Dar, Zahid Hamid, Pervaiz Rasheed, Abdul Qadir Baloch and Khawaja Saad Rafique while one of the members Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar is not present due to Karachi visit.

The protesting political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), committee inlcude Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Asad Umar, Pervez Khattak, Jahangir Tareen and Arif Alvi.

Ongoing dialogue session was resumed after a serious deadlock over some matters between the government and protestors.
