Sri Lanka 261/8 at stumps day 1 against Pakistan

COLOMBO: Sri Lanka scored 261 runs on loss of 8 wickets against Pakistan on Thursday at the end of day one of second test played at Sinhalese Sports Club.

Host, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first, which turs out to be a great decision for the home side.

Lankan openers provided a great start as they puts on 79 runs partnership for the first wicket. Kaushal Silva after scoring 41 runs was caught behind by Sarfaraz Ahmed on Junaid Khan’s bowl.

But his partner Upul Tharanga unlucky to score another test century as he departs just eight short to the hundred run mark by Wahab Riaz.

Double century maker Kumar Sangakkara was bowled by Wahab Riaz at the total of 144 runs. Mahela Jayawardene who is playing his last match only manage to score 4 runs. Skipper Angelo Mathews added 39 runs to the team total.

Dhammika Prasad is still out their bating on 4 runs with on Rangana Herath yet to open his account.

Junaid Khan pick up 4 wickets while Wahab Riaz took 3 wickets for the green Shirts.
