QUETTA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the restored residency of Quaid-i-Azam and hoisted the national flag on Thursday in Ziarat, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
According to reports, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, the governor and chief minister of Balochistan, provincial ministers and senior bureaucrats attended the ceremony.
The residency was destroyed in a militant’s attack last year in June with the entire wooden structure reduced to ashes.
In the residency articles used by the Quaid-i-Azam were kept on display.
After the incident, the federal government and many businessmen and other persons offered to provide funds for restoration of the residency, but Chief Minister Dr Malik Baloch announced that the work would be carried out by the Balochistan government from its own resources.
The restoration of the building cost over Rs140 million and the work was completed in four months, reports.
The speaker said that Rs50 million had been allocated for the renovation of the Quaid-e-Azam Residency that was damaged and burnt down last year.
