QUETTA: Eight security officials were injured in an exchange of fire with unknown gunmen near Samungli Airbase on Thursday, TheNewsTribe.com reported.
Sources said that the shootout took place after six armed men attempted to force their way into the facility. They said many rockets were also fired near the airbase but the situation was under control.
Police officials confirm the reports and added that eight security personnel have been injured in the incident.
There was an unconfirmed report that two attacker have been killed in exchange of fire between security personnel and unknown armed men.
The sources said that a search operation has been launched around the airbase. Dozens of people were killed in an audacious attack on Karachi Airport attack a couple of months ago after which Pakistan launched a military campaign against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
