HEC-NAB to launch corruption awareness programme for Pakistani students, youth soon

ISLAMABAD: A delegation from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Islamabad recently met Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman Higher Education Commission, to discuss cooperation between HEC and NAB on the issue of curbing corruption in society through creation of mass awareness among youth/students of the universities.


The NAB delegation was headed by Director General (Awareness and Prevention). Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi, Executive Director HEC was also present on the occasion.

The Chairman HEC welcomed the idea of joining hands with NAB to create awareness amongst the youth and students of the universities of Pakistan. “HEC is already working on preparation of a course on Ethics and Civic responsibilities for undergraduate students in which the issue will be catered to”, said the Chairman.

Dr. Mukhtar further added that HEC will organize seminars, conferences, walks and other social activities with a focus on anti-corruption theme and NAB can join these activities through video-link and other facilities of HEC.

The Chairman HEC voluntarily offered HEC as a case study to NAB to identify systematic weaknesses prevailing in the institution. NAB appreciated the momentum of interest shown by the Chairman HEC on the issue of national importance.

Subsequently, a team of HEC officials headed by Mr. Fida Hussain, Director General (Academics) visited NAB Headquarters, Islamabad to discuss the way forward. During the meeting, the progress on the agreed points was discussed and it was mutually agreed that a possible mechanism for its implementation/way forward would be developed.
