Imran Khan demands federation to provide Rs 6bn to KP govt for IDPs

ISLAMABAD/ BANNU: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday demanded the federal government to provide Rs six billion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the North Waziristan.

Talking to the media after core committee meeting at Banni Gala along with CM KPK Parvez Khan Khattack and other PTI leaders, Imran said he visited Bannu today and that people from North Waziristan are arriving by walk.

He said some three lakh fifty thousand persons have migrated so far, adding that the number of IDPs will touch six lakh.

Khan said the government should have taken his party into confidence if they wanted to conduct military operation. He said most of the migrants are in Bannu, adding that the IDPs are preferring to move in with relatives instead of camps.

PTI chief said operation should be stopped until secure evacuation of the affectees. He said Imran Khan Foundation and Tabdeeli Razakar are going to the affected areas for relief efforts.

Khan demanded the federal government to provide six billion rupees to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for rehabilitation of IDPs.

He said the government will only pay Rs 7000 per month per family, asking how a family is supposed to live on that amount.

He also appealed the Sindh and Punjab governments not to stop IDPs from arriving in their provinces.

He further said that the government has to start planning now and that the Prime Minister should end his foreign trips. PTI chief said that all cities of the KP province are open for the IPDs.

Imran said PTI is not going to do any illegal act, adding that it is demand of PTI that the rigging in 2013 election should be exposed. Imran condemned the government actions against the Pakistan Awami Tehreek workers upon arrival of Dr Tahirul Qadri in Pakistan. He said Shahbaz Sharif should resign over the Model town incident and Rana Sanaullah Khan should be sent behind bars. He said PTI has not alliance with Pakistan Awami Tehreek, adding that PTI is standing with PAT for provision of justice over the model town incident. He said that there is no chance of alliance with PAT.

He said that the justice should be provided to PAT over the Model Town incident. He said that the responsible police officers should also be sent in jail and murder cases should be run against them. He said that the Punjab police has become politicized, adding that the punjbe police was also used for poll rigging in 2013. He said two women were mercilessly killed in Model Town incident while targeting them on mouths.

He said PTI will give deadline regarding the verification of votes on four constituencies in Bahawalpur public gathering.

Meanwhile Imran Khan on Sunday visited a camp set up for people displaced from North Waziristan due to anti-Taliban military operations.

Speaking to reporters on this occasion, Khan said: “I have come to Bannu to oversee arrangements being made for the IPDs.” “We will extend our help to the displaced persons. Provision of Rs7000/ to each displaced family is not enough,” he said.

The PTI chief said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has demanded release of Rs6 billion from federal government. He also demanded announcement of Ramzan Package for IDPs. To a question, he said that no tribesman wants to live in the camp
